Scalloped Apron Limestone Mantel

A wide mantel with a thick moulded shelf whose corners are rounded rather than cut square. The frieze is deep and plain, faced with two long recessed panels, and it finishes underneath in a shaped apron that dips and scallops across the head of the opening. Big curved console legs carry it down to a stone hearth, and a black screen closes the brick lined firebox. The limestone is warm cream with light staining. Photographed against a rubble stone chimney breast, it suits living rooms, coastal houses, farmhouses and stone faced interiors.
