Broad Arched Limestone Mantel with a Carved Keystone

A wide, low mantel built from thick weathered blocks, with a shelf assembled from several lengths of limestone whose joints stay visible across the front. Below it the opening turns in a broad flattened arch of shaped voussoirs, gathered at the centre by a carved keystone cut with a stylised leaf and tassel. The stone is bleached almost white on the shelf and warmer in the arch, with open pitting and softened arrises throughout. A herringbone firebox sits behind it. It suits great rooms, ranch houses, estate living rooms and Mediterranean style interiors.
