Scrolling Frieze Limestone Mantel with Fluted Legs

A restrained piece photographed against black so the profile reads clearly. The shelf is a plain moulded slab with a shallow overhang, and the frieze below carries a continuous run of carved scrollwork and small square flowers, each scroll turning back on itself in an even rhythm. Under it a plain fascia steps forward on end blocks. The legs are smooth curved consoles, each hollowed by a single broad flute down the face, resting on low square feet. The limestone is warm cream with grey veining. It suits primary suites, studies, dining rooms and quieter formal interiors.
