Flowering Scroll Frieze Limestone Mantel

Photographed before installation, this mantel shows its construction openly: the frieze is cut in three limestone blocks with the joints running straight through the carving. That carving is a broad band of scrolling stems and open flowers rising to a central acanthus palmette. A deep moulded shelf caps it, and the legs taper inward from carved acanthus corbels at the top to plain plinths at the floor. Inside the jambs a fielded panel carries a small rosette above a shaped arch. It suits new build great rooms, primary suites and estate renovation projects.
